Buying a perfume is like buying a car. The car reveals your preferences and parts of your character just like the perfume. But as we know there are different models cars and a great variety of perfumes. That is why buying a perfume is as difficult as buying a car. There are scents described as oriental or floral but at the same time you may have heard a flavor depict as a floral oriental. It is confusing, isn’t it? Everything you need to know is the specific things of the main categories. After that the subdivisions are just extensions of the mains.
You should know three basic notes to every perfume for women. The top, middle and base. When you choose a perfume do not rush to purchase it because when you first use it the scent was one but after one, two or more hours the flavor is different. According to the body chemistry it can become ever more fascinating or you can find the smell totally repellent. That is the reason you should wait one or two hours before making the stride and purchasing the chosen perfume.
There are four main traditional groups or categories.
The first one is called floral. You can easily recognize what actually are the scents of these perfumes because of the name of the group. Products from this family can be worn at any time. Their fragrances of flowers make them gentle and exquisite. A popular ‘floral-aldehyde’ perfume is Chanel No 5.
The second is known as the woody group. In the content of those women perfume you can reveal the earthy tone. Using these flavors you feel fresh and alive but at the same time you don’t lose your refinement. A typical example is the Angel Perfume by Thierry Mugler.
The third family is called citrus. This one is known as the fruity and refreshing category. The perfume that represents this group is the Britney Spear’s Believe Perfume. It can be worn day or night.
The last category is known as the oriental. Actually in this division the concentration of scents is the strongest. These perfumes are popular with their sweet and spicy flavor. You can be sure that wearing this type of scents you will stand out in the crowd, no matter where you are. A well known oriental flavor is the Poison by Christian Dior.
Nowadays there are perfumes described as being a ‘Green, Chypre or Fougere.’ New categories are appearing because of the advances in the industry. The desires and tastes of the people are different and changeable. That is why there are so many subcategories and the variety of fragrances is so big. Don’t forget that your chosen perfume will become your ’signature.’
